Heyward-Bey leaves game after serious head shot

Raiders receiver Darius Heyward-Bey took a serious blow to the head early in the fourth quarter, and though he showed movement in his extremities, he left the field on a cart while strapped to a body board.

With Oakland holding a 27-14 lead against Minnesota, Heyward-Bey caught a pass across the middle from Carson Palmer, and as Cedric Griffin tackled him and began to pull him down, Vikings linebacker E.J. Henderson’s knee collided with Heyward Bey’s head, knocking off his helmet.

Almost immediately, Heyward-Bey, in obvious pain, began moving his arms and legs. As he was being stretchered off, he lifted his left arm again, triggering applause from the crowd.
